It would depend on your nationality. Are you a Malaysian? Certain nationality would be able to enter Laos visa-free. Malaysians are able to enter Laos visa-free for 30 days. While most foreign visitors are eligible for a Laos Visa On Arrival, passport holders of 29 countries require a visa from a Lao Embassy or Consulate.

According to the Hong Kong Immigration Department website (www.immd.gov.hk), when applying for a visit permit at the nearest Chinese diplomatic and consular mission, documents required is:-
• Application for Entry for Visit/Transit in Hong Kong (ID 1003A)
• The applicant’s recent photograph (affixed on page 1 of the application form ID 1003A)
• Photocopy of the applicant’s travel document containing personal particulars, date of issue, date of expiry and/or details of any re-entry visa held (if applicable)
• Photocopy of proof of the applicant’s financial standing, e.g. bank statements, savings accounts passbooks, tax receipts, etc. and proof of employment (if any), e.g. company leave letter, salary slips, etc.
• Photocopy of proof of transportation arrangement, e.g. flight itinerary
• Photocopy of proof of the proposed leisure visit to Hong Kong, e.g. receipt of joining a package tour to Hong Kong, itinerary, etc. (for leisure visit only)
An ordinary visa will cost $160 and it will normally take four weeks to process a visit permit application upon receipt of all the required documents.

You can enter certain parts of Southeast Asia visa-free and some countries offer visa on arrival. However, there is also countries which require prior visa arrangement before you board your flight. It generally depends on which country you intend to travel to.
